MARCO MINA'

Biography

Marco Mina’ studied at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Music in Milan where he graduated with the best marks under the direction of Professor Ruggero Chiesa. He also studied Aesthetics and History of Music at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome where he graduated with the best marks, cum laude, under the supervision of Professor Pierluigi Petrobelli. He has furthermore a Master’s Degree in Teaching Music (Instrumental Didactis and Performance) both at the Conservatoire of Music “L. Refice” in Frosinone and at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Vecchi-Tonelli” in Modena. He is graduated in Lute and continuo playing both at the “S. Cecilia” Conservatory of Music in Rome and “A. Boito” Conservatory of Music in Parma under the supervision of Andrea Damiani and Marco Pesci.
He attended masterclasses with Oscar Ghiglia and Ruggero Chiesa at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, with Bruno Canino, Alexander Lonquich, Pier Narciso Masi, Konstantin Bogino and to the Scuola Superiore Internazionale of Trio di Trieste.
Still very young, he obtained several prizes at national and international level, in both a solo and chamber music capacity: International Competition City of Stresa, Grosseto, Camaiore, Cento, Premio Rovere d’Oro, Prix F. Liszt in Paris and so on.
He has teached guitar at “N. Rota” Conservtory of Music in Monopoli, at the Scuola Civica di Musica “G. Verdi” in Prato, at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Vecchi-Tonelli” in Modena, Methodology in the area of Instrumental Teaching and History of Performing Arts from reinassance to the contemporary music at the “G. Frescobaldi” Conservatory of Music in Ferrara.

He regularly helds master classes to some of the most prestigious musical institutions in Europe, US, Australia and Asia.
He has given recitals for some of the most important venues in Europe, USA, Africa: Accademia Musicale Chigiana Siena, Campus Internazionale di Musica-Festival Pontino in Sermoneta Caetani Castle, Associazione Amici di Castel S. Angelo Rome, ARTIS Verona, Grandezze & Meraviglie Modena, Ecole Normale, Salle Cortot Paris, Sir Yehudi Menuhin School England, King’s College London, St. Martin in the Fields, Royal Academy, BBC Proms, Birmingham Conservatoire of Music, Salysbury Cathedral Season, Royal Danish Academy, Djeuga Palace Yaundè and Akwa Palace Douala (Cameroun), Yerevan-Gyumri (Armenia), Mirbacov Palac Bratislava, Lasalle College of The Arts (Singapore), Luleå-Piteå University (Sweden), Australian National University, Marmorsaal der Sektkelleri Henkel & Co. Wiesbaden, Italia-Musica, Theresianischen Akademie and Klangbogen Sommer Vienna, as soloist with the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, and as guest guitarist at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Hamburg and Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Marco Mina’ has frequently collaborated with artists as Hans Werner Henze, Vittorio Zago, Alexander Lonquich, Claudio Ambrosini, Lavinia Bertotti.
He has recorded for BBC Radio 3, RAI Radio 3, Radio Vaticana, Radio France, Slovak and Österreiches Radio. The video “Guitarevolution” is regularly broadcast on Sky-Classical channel. The documentary “A week in Vienna” is present on NovAntiqua channel. He is currently recording and publishing for the label Musica NovAntiqua.

His repertory ranges from Reinassance and Baroque to classic-romantic composers – on original instruments – and contemporary music.
